Will the past be the writer of your destiny…? So the brand new release from Your Gracious Host (aka Tom Curless) ponders this age old question.
Released on June 1, 2015 by Meccanic Records, The writers of our destiny is a song cycle built around a short story. This is the story of a man grappling with various life issues in an around New York, NY. One sudden, tragic event has turned his life around and haunts him as he tries to make his way through complicated relationships, a job loss and a restlessness which is causing him nightmares. A constant figure at various bars and nightclubs around Greenwich Village, he is struggling to face his demons and figure out a future path while trying to repudiate his past.
This record (the sixth release from Your Gracious Host) has been almost two years in the making, was conceived, written and performed by Tom Curless in his home studio in Grand Blanc, MI and at Big Sky Studios in Ann Arbor, MI. It was mixed by Geoff Michael at Big Sky and mastered by Chris Goosman at Baseline Audio in Ann Arbor.
Your Gracious Host has been releasing music steadily over the last decade and has been slowly building a bigger cult fan base with each release. This release is conceptually a bit of a left turn but fans of YGH will not be surprised by the music, as it boasts some of the biggest melodic hooks and fiery, driving performances to date…
Read the story (available as a separate booklet) and listen to the record. Turn everything else off and be transported for 40 minutes.
